Evidence-based psychological care to help you improve your well-being and move forward with confidence.

About Me

Teresa Christian, Psy.D. is a Clinical Psychologist licensed by the California Board of Psychology dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and strengthen their well-being. Dr. Christian has specialized training and experience in short-term, solution-focused, evidence-based therapies, integrated behavioral health and clinical health psychology. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology where she focused on integrative approaches to behavioral health. Dr. Christian completed advanced clinical training in both hospital and outpatient settings. Since completing training, she has served in several clinical and administrative roles.

Dr. Christian's primary clinical interests include solution-focused treatment for anxiety, depression, adjustment, bereavement, coping with physical illness and sleep difficulty.

Dr. Christian respects and values the time of the patients she works with and that is one of the many reasons she offers evidence based short-term interventions. Short-term therapy is a collaborative goal oriented, solution focused approach to help make meaningful and lasting changes in just a few sessions.

In addition, Dr. Christian has a significant passion for supporting women through the unique physical and emotional changes and challenges that can occur during different stages of life. From fertility and pregnancy to postpartum transitions, adjusting and coping with parenthood, pelvic pain, and perimenopause, Dr. Christian aims to provide a supportive environment to help patients gain skills to feel their best during these challenging times.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be a natural response to stress, but when it becomes frequent, intense, or overwhelming, it can interfere with daily life. While everyone experiences anxiety from time to time, ongoing anxiety can affect relationships, work, and overall well-being. Anxiety can interfere with sleep, work, relationships, and daily life, often making tasks, small and large, feel overwhelming. Anxiety can manifest as persistent worry, racing thoughts, restlessness, irritability, or physical symptoms like a rapid heartbeat, tension, or trouble sleeping. With effective treatment, anxiety can be managed — helping you feel calmer, more focused, and better able to enjoy life. At Main Street Psychology we work with you to develop a focused plan to treat anxiety to reduce physical and emotional stress and improve overall well-being.

Depression

When most people think of depression, they think of feeling down, sad, tearful or hopeless. While this all can be true, depression can also affect your daily functioning, sleep, energy, relationships, and overall health. Main Street Psychology utilizes goal-oriented approaches to therapy, helping you identify clear steps towards relief. Together, we can focus on developing practical strategies to improve mood, increase motivation, and restore balance in your daily life.

Short Term Therapy

Sometimes you don’t need longer-term treatment—you just need focused support to get through a specific challenge. Short-term therapy is a focused and time-limited approach designed to help you identify goals, gain practical tools, and make meaningful changes in as little as 3-6 sessions.  At Main Street Psychology, Dr. Christian offers this approach to help patients develop targeted strategies to feel better equipped to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Women's Health

Main Street Psychology aims to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to support all aspects of women's health by providing a supportive space where you feel understood and empowered. Supporting women's mental health is a deep passion of Dr. Christian and she understands that women’s mental health is deeply connected to the physical and emotional changes that come with infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and beyond. Whether you are preparing for a new chapter, healing after birth, or seeking support through life’s changes, Main Street Psychology is here to help you restore balance, resilience, and well-being.

Life Changes and Adjustment

Change, even positive change, can feel unsettling. Major life events such as moving, career shifts, relationship changes, becoming a parent, or adjusting to health challenges often bring stress, uncertainty, and mixed emotions. Main Street Psychology offers a supportive space to assist you during these transitions to help you process, adapt, and develop a path forward. With practical strategies, you can navigate change with greater confidence and create a sense of balance in the midst of life’s shifts.

Stress Management

Stress is a normal part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can affect your mood, health, relationships, and daily functioning. Dr. Christian can help individuals manage stress through practical, evidence-based strategies. Together, we can identify your unique stressors, build healthy coping skills, and develop tools to restore balance and resilience. With the right support, it’s possible to feel calmer, more in control, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges.

Grief

Losing someone you love can bring sadness, anger, anxiety, confusion, and a deep sense of emptiness. Grief can feel overwhelming, isolating and difficult to navigate. At Main Street Psychology, Dr. Christian offers a safe, supportive space to help you process loss at your own pace. Through compassionate, evidence-based therapy, we can work together to honor your grief, find ways to cope, and gently move toward healing while keeping meaningful connections alive.

Health Psychology

Whether you’re adjusting to a new medical diagnosis, living with a chronic condition, preparing for surgery, or working toward healthier lifestyle changes, Dr. Christian can support you on that journey by providing compassionate, evidence-based care to support both your mind and body. At Main Street Psychology, Dr. Christian specializes in clinical health psychology — helping individuals manage the emotional, behavioral, and psychological aspects of physical health.  Solution focused and goal-oriented treatment aimed to empower you with tools to reduce stress, improve coping, and enhance overall well-being. Together, we can build strategies that support lasting health and a better quality of life.

Sleep Difficulty

Struggling with falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early can take a toll on your mood, energy, work, relationships and overall health. At Main Street Psychology, Dr. Christian utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the gold-standard, evidence-based approach, for improving sleep. CBT-I focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and habits around sleep to help you restore a healthier sleep pattern. With the right tools and support, restful, restorative sleep is possible.
